Getenergy Ltd is the truly independent facilitator of a global marketplace in knowledge and services relating to education and training for the oil and gas industry.

Getenergy® will use its events, publications and network to achieve this core purpose. Getenergy is established as a UK-based limited company and is privately owned but works closely with Governments, Oil Companies, Universities and training providers from around the world.

Getenergy believes that the solution to the education and training challenge facing the global oil business lies in bringing together, without barriers, the people who provide education and training with those people in oil companies who source it. Getenergy’s role is to facilitate and inform those gatherings and to provide vital support and information to the process.

How did Getenergy begin?

The idea behind Getenergy came from a meeting in Aberdeen during Offshore Europe 2003 between oil companies and training providers. The meeting revealed that the oil industry would gain real value from a forum to discuss the challenges surrounding recruitment, training and learning development in a global context. A UK company called Getenergy Ltd was formed later that year to organise the initiative on behalf of the world’s national and international oil companies.

Defining the Challenge

Through Getenergy, the oil industry will be able to develop learning partnerships which will help create closer co-operation in exploration and production work between the national oil company major resource holders and the international oil companies, not to mention the universities and training companies.

Policies and Strategy

1. Getenergy will work closely with national/international oil companies and education/training providers to deliver the solution to the education and training challenge.

2. Getenergy will remain independent. Our focus is entirely on solving the education and training challenges in the oil industry. Getenergy does not intend providing any training or education services itself.

3. Getenergy will ensure the continuing success of its initiative by working with oil companies that are dynamic, forward- thinking and that believe in the value of education and training for their people and for the communities with whom they work.

4. Getenergy events (both regional and global) will not be allowed to out-grow their usefulness. Our aim is to build events which are fit-for-purpose, advance the discussion towards clear objectives defined by our Stakeholder oil companies and which help to solve the education and training challenges, enabling valuable business to happen between oil companies and training bodies. We are not in the business of creating an ‘Offshore Technology Conference’ for the training industry.

5. Getenergy is flexible and will adopt an intelligent approach to all its activities, ensuring that events are used as a vehicle to advance the agenda towards a solution and providing allied services that are genuinely useful to people in industry.
