Revus Energy has reported a further new find in the North Sea, with drilling at its wells in the Ipswich prospect revealing significant reserves.
Though the exact size of the new discovery has yet to be determined, the Norwegian firm has called the initial testing at its exploration well 1/3-11 "encouraging", pointing to an oil column of some 60-metres.
This would put the new discovery on a par with Revus's Oselvar exploration site, with the company set to move its rig to the Marsvin prospect for further tests.
News of this discovery comes at the same time as Denmark's DONG Energy announced that it has made a new oil discovery close to the Oslevar field.
A statement released by the company confirmed that initial tests have revealed an oil column of around 59 metres, with DONG to hold a 40 per cent interest in the new field, alongside Revus with a 15 per cent share and the Norwegian Energy Company with a 15 per cent share also.
