American Right of Way Associates (ARWA) has announced that it will inaugurate a new training initiative at the Petroleum Club of Shreveport, Louisiana.

In a statement, the group said that the new training scheme will provide its agents with the requisite skills to promote access for existing and planned wells, pipelines and other infrastructure integral to the oil and gas industry.

"Our training has allowed hundreds of people to break into an industry that was once based on who you know, not what you know. It has been our experience with our clients that those days are behind us," said Don Valden, chief executive officer of ARWA.

The group has identified a significant need for more trained agents to assist in the continued development of the Haynesville Shale, Louisiana, as well as the Barnett Shale in Texas.

This need is particularly acute in the Haynesville Shale as the field has a lifespan of at least another two decades.
