ATR Group has launched a new integrated solution to help oil and gas firms reduce instances of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) among the workforce.
Through vibration monitoring systems and technical training and development support, the company seeks to significantly reduce the HAVS contraction rate, which currently stands at 3,000 new cases each year.
Commenting on the new service, Bruce McIntosh, operations manager at ATR Group, said: "The programme puts employers in a stronger position in relation to demonstrating their compliance with HAVS legislation, illustrating their proactive approach to the maintenance, repair and testing of equipment prior to use by personnel."
The group noted that in pursuance of a preventative HAVS policy, firms need to ensure that tools are well serviced and monitored correctly, in addition to providing proper training for workers using equipment which facilitates the onset of the syndrome.
ATR has provided a catalogue of specialist equipment to the oil and gas industry for more than 15 years and has focused on companies operating in the North Sea.
