Aberdeen-based oilfield services and training specialist EnerMech has bought the entire equity of Norson Power in an £11 million deal.
The Scotsman reports that the new deal was struck to allow the acquisitive EnerMech to integrate Norson's expertise in pipework manufacturing and maintenance within its own product and service remit.
In addition to providing oilfield training, EnerMech also specialises in cranes, lifting equipment, hydraulics and machinery rental for Scotland's offshore oil and gas industry.
The company is based in Aberdeen and Norson's 90 staffmembers are expected to transfer to its headquarters in Howes Road later this year.
"Synergy is an over-used word, but in this case Norson's expertise and products dovetails extremely well with our existing business lines," said Doug Duguid, EnerMech's managing director.
The company has also recently strengthened operations in the Middle East with new bases of operations in Doha, Qatar, with plans to offer workshop services in the country in the near future.
