Abu Dhabi Polymers Co, the company in charge of the Borouge II project, has announced that the plant will be operational by 2010.
In a statement made in the UAE capital on Tuesday (October 13th), the group's chief executive officer Abdul Aziz al-Hajiri said that the $5 billion project is now more than 90 per cent complete.
He told Gulf News: "By 2014, Borouge III will also come on-stream, which would lift our total production capacity to 4.5 million tonnes per year. We will be issuing tenders for the polyolefins part of Borouge III within a month."
Development of the growing Borouge complex is likely to bring with it a steady investment in training and development to ensure that manpower is sufficient to keep the project on track.
Earlier this year, joint-venture partners Abu Dhabi Polymers and Borealis selected Bechtel to undertake front-end engineering and design for the implementation of the Borouge III project.
