The Angolan National Assembly has approved proposals that will enable the government to legislate on the provision of training and educational programmes to prepare workers for a career in the country's oil and gas industry.
Angola Press reports that the assembly has also authorised two new instruments that will allow for the development of a new non-associated gas concession and new fiscal policies governing tender agreements on energy prospects.
The new proposals will be focused on the development of a support framework for those Angolan workers that are working for foreign oil and gas companies operating in the country.
The motion was passed unanimously with no abstentions or oppositional votes.
In its second vote, the assembly authorised a ten-year concession that will be operated by Songas Natural.
Songas will in turn sign service contracts Eni Angola Exploration Gas Natural West Africa, Galp Exploration Petrolifera and Exem Energy to develop the prospect.
In December, the Angolan government signed an agreement with Sonangol that allows the country to move ahead with liquefied natural gas processing projects.
