The Angolan government expects companies working in the oil and gas industry to offer their support for the overhaul of the National Oil Institute (INP), the country's oil and gas minister Botelho de Vasconcelos has said.
Speaking last week at a meeting of oil and gas industry representatives, the minister said that the restructuring of the the facility would be conducted with long-term goals in mind.
According to Agencia Angola Press, Mr de Vasconcelos added that this would enable the INP to ensure that the training and development programmes it offers are in line with the needs of the sector as it continues to develop.
In addition to providing oil training courses, the INP also has a responsibility to promote new technologies within the industry, as defined in a founding decree.
At the beginning of last year, Shell committed $800,000 to the development of the institute, with previous oil minister Desiderio Costa telling the Angola Press Agency that the country must be recognised for the quality of the training that it provides.
