Those working in the oil and gas industry may be interested to hear that Antrim Energy submitted a Field Development Plan to the UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Online resource Oil Voice reports that this is the first phase of the Causeway - the company's Northern sea property.
It is hoped that the way will later be paved for further development of additional reserves in the western and central regions of the Causeway field.
Stephen Greer, president and chief executive officer of Antrim, said that the Field Development Plan was a cautious, conservative approach which was well-suited to the currently uncertain economic climate.
"By phasing these developments, the company can minimise the initial capital commitment and can expect to fund subsequent production phases from revenue generated by previous phases," he added.
It is believed that approval will be granted during 2009.
Meanwhile, Oil Voice notes that Venture Production has announced that it has successfully brought the Grouse oil field into production.
