Energy giant BP has recognised the achievements of small-to-medium sized oil and gas companies operating in Azerbaijan with its third annual Best of Business awards.
Coming just days before the company is due to launch its multi-million pound Enterprise, Development and Training Programme in the Asian country, it confirmed that this year's awards had attracted a record number of participating firms.
Among those recognised in the Baku ceremony were Metal Gaynag Sinag, which was named Company of the Year due to its strong economic performance over the past 12 months, while Dalgidj was named Best Performer in Health, Safety and Environment as well as the Employer of the Year.
Enterprises and entrepreneurs were also feted for their contributions to local economies within Azerbaijan in addition to their contribution to their communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bill Schrader, President of BP in Azerbaijan, stated: "BP remains committed to working with an increasing number of local and international companies who share the similar goal of creating a healthy and vibrant enterprise culture in Azerbaijan."
BP also operates a Regional Development Initiative and its Community Investment Programmes, which include education scholarships, in the country.
