Representatives from Abu Dhabi's ADNOC and ADCO have come together with Oman's ministry of oil and gas to take part in an innovative oil training course run by BP in Muscat, Oman.
ASSET is a business simulation training programme which focuses specifically on the oil exploration sector, providing people with practical skill sets acquired through a multi-disciplinary handling of a 10-year upstream simulation.
Regional website albawaba.com explained that trainees set their own targets and respond to opportunities and challenges posited by the in-house training simulator.
BP course director Martin Thompson explained: "Through ASSET they develop enhanced team-working skills which they can take back to the work place and which ultimately helps deliver improved business performance."
Meanwhile, course attendees were in agreement that the oil training course had provided them with a powerful understanding of what it takes to run upstream operations effectively.
According to its website, BP recognises that retention of the most valuable staff is only made possible by committing to robust training and development schemes to allow workers to reach their potential.
