The UK-based oil and natural gas production and development firm Bow Valley Energy has announced news of a new discovery within the North Sea.
The find, which was made by its fully-owned subsidiary Bow Valley Petroleum, was made at its Blackbird site, located within Block 20/2a, just six kilometres south of the Ettrick field.
Initial tests point to a production potential of 3,800 barrels of oil per day and, while the resources will need to be accessed through a 34/64 inch choke, the company is confident that the proximity of the new discovery to its existing operations will allow or more cost effective development.
Commenting on the development, R.G. Moffat, president and CEO of Bow Valley stated "The Company is successfully building a full cycle exploration and production company of
significant size in the UK North Sea.
"The exploration success also highlights the remaining potential in UK North Sea and Bow Valley's ability to identify and capture value. Bow Valley's continued exploration activity over the next six months includes participation in four exploration wells and one field appraisal well on new prospects."
