There will be no break in oil and gas training during the planned closure of the Aruba oil refinery, Valero spokesperson Bill Day has announced.
Speaking to Reuters, the representative confirmed that the refinery units are still currently in operation but will begin shutting down in the first half of this month. He explained that the decision to close the plant has been made primarily for economic reasons.
"We will keep the employees at the plant and we will do opportunistic maintenance on the units when they are shut down and we will also have training programs," Mr Day said.
Valero will re-evaluate the economic viability of restarting the plant after two or three months.
The company announced that it would shut down the plant on June 11th, although Mr Day clarified that there will be no closures at other Valero sites. The plant had suffered primarily because of low distillate margins, he said.
