India-based CADD Centre is set to open a new training and development centre in Qatar, servicing unfulfilled demand for engineering and management skills in the oil and gas industry and other non-energy sectors.
Karaiadi Selvan, director of the CADD Centre, explained that while Qatar, like most oil-rich Gulf states, has seen unprecedented growth in recent years, the demand for skilled workers in fields such as computer-aided design (CAD), programme and project management (PPM) and computer-aided engineering has been broadly underserved, increasing reliance on foreign labour and skills.
"Our presence in Qatar, which is perceived as the most robust economy in the region, will help us offer popular CAD and PPM programs shaped for local industry needs and develop a skilled manpower to work in the most competitive positions," insisted Mr Selvan.
Since 2002, CADD Centre has won a total of 12 international awards for its demonstrable expertise in delivering technical training courses in India and overseas, with the Wings of Glory 2008 Award from Canon India the latest to be collected.
