The Consortium of Skills Development and Recruitment (CSDR) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry which will provide training for Dayak youths on the island of Borneo.
Bernama.com reports that under the terms of the agreement, CSDR has agreed to provide a robust skills training programme that will prepare young people in the region for a career in the national oil and gas industry.
There will be a specific focus on developing skills frameworks to address current shortfalls in the supply of labour for specialist positions such as riggers, fitters, welders and scaffolders.
In addition, CSDR will offer financial support to local students through a lending programme.
The company added that provisions for additional training programmes are in place and will be introduced periodically as the oil and gas industry requires.
Borneo has burgeoned into a major producer of palm oil in recent years.
