Capital Safety has announced the commencement of fall protection awareness courses at its oil and gas training centres in Edmonton, Alberta, and Mississuaga, Ontario, serving the Canadian oil sands industry.
The new training modules have been fully accredited by the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) and were launched earlier this month, Capital Safety confirmed yesterday (June 16th).
"Our ability to provide accredited OSSA training will add real value to our oil sands customers who rely on Capital Safety to keep their workers safe," said Kenson Silverthorne, training specialist with Capital Safety.
OSSA fall safety training is a legal requirement for all workers employed in the Fort McMurray oil sands industry, the company explained.
It achieved OSSA accreditation on May 6th after demonstrating its adherence to the organisation's rigid training standards covering health and safety regulations, identification of fall hazards, equipment use and fall protection and rescue procedures.
