The UK is setting a leading example in how to maintain strength by investing in training and development, Certex UK's training manager George Cuell believes.
Writing for Hoist, he states that by meeting and exceeding legal training requirements, lifting firms in the UK are ensuring the safety of workers and helping to sustain an excellent reputation.
"Failure to comply with industry requirements can lead to criminal prosecution, crippling fines, highly damaging publicity and, worse still, injury or loss of life," he warns.
Mr Coull, who is based at Certex's specialist training facilities in Harworth, explains that the company ensures both robust safety training for all staff and highly specialised competences for those working in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry in the UK.
The company works with Opito, the oil and gas academy, to provide its staff with the requisite qualifications to pursue best practice and maintain the reputation and safety record of the company.
Opito has recently opened a new multimillion pound training centre in Aberdeen to expand the services provided to the oil and gas industry in the UK.
