Oilfield production chemicals specialist Champion has announced that it has completed an expansion of its premises in Aberdeen and is now finalising plans for a new £4.5 million technology and research centre.
Once the new facilities are completed later this year, researchers will work in conjunction with lab teams at five other Champion sites in Houston, Calgary, Moscow, Singapore and Dubai.
"The purpose built facility will also help attract and retain the best technical professionals in the industry," said Harry Montgomerie, business manager of Champion Technologies' eastern hemisphere division.
He added that the company is already enjoying success in Stavanger, Norway, where a new training and development centre is helping to enhance the company's regional customer relations significantly.
Champion employs upwards of 2,000 people and is the second largest oilfield chemical production company in the world. It operates in more than 30 countries and provides chemical solutions for a spectrum of oilfield conditions, including deepwater, oil sands and heavy oil production.
