Chevron's longstanding training and development programme targeting Iraqi workers is continuing apace and is creating exciting opportunities in the country, the company's upstream relations team leader Kurt Glaubitz has announced.
Speaking to Arabian Oil and Gas, the spokesperson explained that the majority of the engineer training modules are hosted in the US, with talented Iraqis invited to complete the courses and return to work in the country's burgeoning oil and gas industry.
He added that more than 1,000 engineers have already been trained under the initiative, an achievement he deemed a marked success.
"Iraq is particularly exciting. We are very interested in participating there, but clearly the terms and conditions have to be right," Mr Glaubitz told the paper.
Chevron was invited to bid for the development of the Nahr Bin Umar field, located in the south of the country, in March this year. The company teamed up with French major Total to tender for the contract.
