Chevron has signed a new agreement with the Bureau D'Ingeniere en Education et Formation (BIEF) to provide teacher training in 16 provinces in Angola.
The deal was signed by Eunice de Carvalho, the company's general director of public policies and government relations, and is worth around $1.5 million.
Ms de Carvalho said that Chevron is committed to ensuring the prosperity of future generations of Angolans through socioeconomic development initiatives.
Training will be carried out by the National Institute for Teacher Training over the next three years, covering provinces including Cabinda, Zaire, Bengo, Uige, Moxico, Kwanza Norte and Kuando Kubango.
Chevron has had a presence in Angola for more than two decades, operating through its wholly-owned subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil.
Cabinda is the largest foreign employer in the country, and Chevron offers a host of training programmes, internships and scholarships to improve access to the industry for local workers.
