Coastal Training Technologies has announced the launch of a new environmental protection training programme.
The document, titled Spill Prevention & Control: Insuring A Safer World, looks at the procedures in place to prevent and limit the damage caused by oil spills.
Professionals can benefit by learning more about the production, distribution and storage of oil, in addition to its consumption, while discussion of the relevant equipment needed is also included.
Much of the focus is on compliance with Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations, which are discussed in terms of their history, development and application.
The oil training programme provides information on how to respond to an oil spill, listing necessary equipment and safe work practices.
Facilities coming under the jurisdiction of SPCC regulations must be non-transportation related and must have an aggregate aboveground storage capacity greater than 1,320 gallons or a completely buried storage capacity greater than 42,000 gallons.
In addition, there must be a reasonable expectation of a discharge onto United States shorelines or into its navigable waters.
