CodaOctopus has announced that it has expanded its training suite into the field of antipiracy in response to the growing threat of maritime hijackings in the oil and gas industry and elsewhere.
The decision to branch out into the tactical oil training sector comes amid escalating attacks on tankers travelling through the Gulf of Aden, with a Yemeni ship carrying 2,000 tonnes of diesel among the latest to be targeted, having reportedly been boarded by Somali pirates at the start of this year.
In response, CodaOctopus has assigned two industry experts with responsibility to head up antipiracy training operations, with David Robinson and Matthew Moore taking charge of the new Tactical Training subdidiary.
"Government and military authorities with responsibility for port security urgently need training to understand how to utilise Coda's new technology," said Mr Robinson.
Coda has become a world leader in underwater port technology and marine survey technology, while Robinson and Moore have carried out more than 50 training and development courses in the field of maritime antiterrorism and antipiracy since 9/11 while in a previous position at Tactical Intelligence International.
