Colorado workers have been running emergency gas training operations prior to plugging a well south-west of Silt that has been leaking natural gas.
According to the Daily Sentinel, preparations to "kill" the well were being made on Wednesday (November 26th), which included the planting of equipment and addressing logistics issues.
Jon Black, the local operations manager with Antero Resources, told the paper that no residents have been affected by the leak and that there have been no reports of a blaze at the site.
Meanwhile, Tricia Beaver, hearings manager for the oil and gas commission, said that while the cause of the blowout is as yet unknown, it is being treated as an accident.
Crews will press on with measures to stop the leak once the emergency gas training routine has been completed.
In other regional developments, fire departments in California have recently been invited to take part in emergency training simulations run by Chevron at its dedicated oil and gas education centre in El Segundo.
