Idaho-based training specialist Command Center has trained hundreds of workers to tackle the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico caused by the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig last month.
In a statement, the company claimed it has also been working around the clock to train additional staff to respond to the flooding in Tennessee, and is expanding its recruitment to Mississippi and Alabama.
Company chairman and chief executive Glenn Welstad commented: "Communities are counting on these disaster relief contractors and government agencies to provide an organised and efficient clean-up in the face of extremely difficult circumstances."
If they are to deliver, he added, the mobilisation of a highly-trained and responsive workforce will be vital.
There has also been widespread volunteer activity in states along the Gulf coast, with many preparing for potential cleanup operations once the spill reaches land.
BP meanwhile, working with regional partners, is battling to contain the spill at sea using oil boom, while also attempting to stem the flow of oil from its source in ultra-deep waters.
