Cooper Industries has announced that it has opened the doors of its new flagship training facilities in Houston, Texas.
The red tape was cut at a ceremony hosted by group chief executive Kirk Hachigan, who welcomed more than 250 people to a half-day inauguration last month which included tours of the training centre and discussions with industry heads.
A first of its kind, the Cooper Technology Centre will serve the oil and gas industry and the electricity and water sectors. In total, more than 250 simulation installations will help to familiarise enrolees with the operations of these key sectors.
"During this time when budgets are stretched, this facility offers a unique venue for us to provide our customers with the education and training that is vital to their businesses," said Mr Hachigan.
He added that it will also allow the company to partner with those working in the oil and gas industry to develop new technologies and energy products.
The company chose Houston for its base of training operations as it has become a nationwide hub for the US energy industry.
