The Dubai Industrial Academy (DIA) will begin training Emirati students for a number of energy firms including Dugas and Enoc, an official working for the institute has announced.
Speaking to Emirates Business 24-7, the representative said that the training and development scheme will accept students from the northern Emirates to provide them with the skills to work in the gas industry.
"The long-term plan is to train Emirati students in technical fields and prepare them to attend engineering degrees and diploma courses offered by the universities and colleges," he said.
According to the paper, education has commonly received a fair portion of the national budget, with a quarter of the $1.9 billion public sector spending allowance for 2007 going towards the sector.
The DIA has been set up in cooperation with a number of energy industry affiliates, including TTE Technical Training Group, UK-based Apix, IRCA Middle East and Al Rowad for Training and Development.
