Dolphin Offshore is set to begin work on a new diver training institute that will help to strengthen India's burgeoning oil and gas industry, Navpreet Singh, the company's chief financial officer, has confirmed.
Speaking to CNBC-TV 18, Mr Singh explained that currently, there are no national diver training schools for Indians looking to enter the oil and gas industry, with all training taking place overseas.
"We need a new pool of divers; we need to expand the pool of divers and this is really the main activity that is going to be done by the diving training school," he said, adding that the new training and development institute would serve both Dolphin and other companies involved in the offshore industry.
The move into education and vocational training comes as the company celebrates its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the company also in May hosted a series of technical training sessions led by professionals from India and overseas.
