EON Reality has announced a new addition to its software suite with the development of a new virtual reality (VR) training tool designed to ensure safe operations in the oil and gas industry.
The company has worked with global oil and gas majors including RasGas and Aramco to develop a tailored training solution that is highly immersive and realistic.
Dennis Cafiero, visualisation specialist at EON Reality, said that new training products such as the EON Icube, which provides 'holodeck' functionality with three-dimensional walls, allow trainees to feel as though they are reacting to real-world events.
"This makes safety training more effective and better equips personnel to perform their jobs more safely and effectively," he added.
EON, which is based in California with development offices in Sweden, noted that safety training has become a primary point of focus for major players in the global oil and gas industry since the Deepwater Horizon explosion on April 20th.
