Italian oil major Eni has announced that it has signed three agreements with Angola's Sonangol to develop upstream, downstream and training opportunities in the east African country.
Eni confirmed that it has entered into an agreement to enhance energy infrastructure and industrial capacities in the country, while maintaining its environmental integrity.
The second accord will see Eni collaborating with Sonangol to pursue upstream opportunities in onshore basins, which were described as being highly lucrative.
Meanwhile, the third tenet will facilitate the development of training facilities and infrastructure in order to provide local professionals with the skills to enter the country's expanding oil and gas industry.
"The signature of these agreements represents a first major step in reaching targets set out by the memorandum of understanding and further strengthens the long-lasting strategic cooperation between Eni and Sonangol," the Italian energy major commented.
In October last year, the partners made a significant discovery off the coast of Angola and both are in the process of exploring surrounding structures.
