Italian energy company Eni has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Russian autonomous region of Yamalo-Nenets.
The firm says the agreement represents a further token of its approach towards the countries in which it operates and is aimed at encouraging economic and social development of local communities.
Eni chief executive officer Paolo Scaroni and governor of the region Yury Neyolov signed the memorandum, which commits them to promoting joint initiatives in oil and gas training for high level jobs.
As well as this, it sets out contributions to the development of charity and sponsorship initiatives and co-operation in the realisation of cultural and sport initiatives.
Eni stated that the agreement means Yamalo-Nenets "will be able to establish stable and lasting relationships with Eni structures operating in the territory and to carry out future initiatives of co-operation in social and economic areas".
Through its operations in 70 countries Eni employs around 76,000 people in the oil and gas, electricity generation and sale, petrochemicals, oilfield services construction and engineering industries.
