ExxonMobil has pursued a collaborative relationship with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corp (NNPC) in order to ensure that maximum value is achieved for both company shareholders and Nigerian citizens, Exxon's general manager of deepwater operations Jide Ayo-Vaughn has commented.
Speaking to Business Day, the manager said that the partnership has led to considerable gains in the fields of domestic workforce training, technology and the environment.
"Working together with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, [ExxonMobil] was able to integrate innovative technical solutions into the project execution plan to meet environmental stewardship goals," he explained.
Mark Ward, managing director of ExxonMobil, also told the paper that the company's national content strategy is built on three pillars: workforce development, strategic community investments and the the strengthening of relationships with suppliers.
ExxonMobil has long demonstrated its commitment to community education programmes across the globe. Among the recent initiatives to be announced is a paid graduate internship programme that aims to maximise exposure to the voluntary sector in Houston.
