ExxonMobil has proudly announced the launch of its Global Women in Management programme in Cameroon, helping to improve access to upper management for women.
Since 2005, the programme has sponsored more than 250 female leaders from 35 countries, offering access to leading management and entrepreneurial training.
A total of 26 women from Cameroon, Chad and Equatorial Guinea are expected to enrol on the new programme, which will be based in Douala.
Lorie Jackson, director of ExxonMobil's Women's Economic Opportunity Initiative, commented: "ExxonMobil is proud to support the expansion of this important programme to Cameroon and help equip more high-potential African women leaders with valuable skills to improve economic opportunities for women in their communities."
ExxonMobil has also recently praised the work of the Corporate Council on Africa in improving employment opportunities for women living throughout the continent.
At a roundtable discussion on the subject held in Washington, DC, the global supermajor insisted that governments, private companies and tertiary organisations must work together to ensure women have equal access to education and career opportunities.
