Eight trainees from north-east Lincolnshire have completed their first year of training at the Centre for Assessment of Technical Competence, Humber (CATCH) in Stallingborough.
The students are now working with Fabricom, supported by the Grimsby Telegraph's 100 Day Apprentice Campaign, which aims to get one young person into a new apprenticeship for one hundred consecutive days.
Fabricom's human resources manager Yvonne Day told the paper that such campaigns are crucial to the ongoing success of industrial companies.
"It's not easy when times are tough, but we look to the future of our business and the specialist skills that we require. If we don't invest in skills through training, we could be at risk of being less competitive," she explained.
Fabricom is a subsidiary of GDF Suez and is one of the UK's largest engineering, project management and construction organisations, serving the oil and gas industry and energy sector.
