Falck Nutec has announced that it will construct a new training centre in the Vung Tau province of Vietnam to support the country's oil and gas industry.
Wan Shukry, regional managing director of Falck Nutec's Far East Asian activities, said that the new centre will help to end the sector's reliance on foreign skills and labour and allow up to 5,000 Vietnamese students to enter the industry each year.
Meanwhile, Ngo Xuan Binh, managing director of venture partner Alternative Company, commented: "This kind of training will help Vietnamese enterprises upgrade their workplace safety conditions to international standards and thereby provide a robust support to the local oil and gas industry."
The centre is expected to open in April and will be located next to the headquarters of Mermaid Maritime, which is also a partner in the project.
Last year, Falck Nutec strengthened its position as a global supplier of offshore survival and safety training by gaining accreditation from the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health.
