Fluor has been named as the successful bidder on a lucrative engineering and management services contract with Samsung, chief engineering, procurement and construction contractor to the Singapore LNG Corporation.
In a statement this week, Fluor revealed that it secured the contract in the final quarter of 2009 and is now supporting the Singapore LNG Terminal project at Jurong Island with engineering and related management services.
Peter Oosterveer, Fluor's president of Energy & Chemicals, commented: "This project cements Fluor's presence in this region of the world using our talented resources in both Singapore and Manila."
Fluor has shown a longstanding commitment to promoting local workforce development through oil and gas training initiatives.
In Kazakhstan for example, Fluor has facilitated a step-change in local workforce skills as part of the SGI-SGP expansion project in Tengiz.
By the end of 2007, a total of 96,000 SGI-SGP employees had completed basic health and safety training.
