As the Lepetkata gas project gets underway, the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has insisted that local youths will be first in line for work and training.
Indian daily paper the Telegraph has reported that National Construction Academy is already offering training and development programmes for selected youths from areas surrounding Lepetkata, providing them with the skills to ensure the mega project is completed smoothly.
"Chief minister Tarun Gogoi ... helped us and it was only because of a personal request from him that the Andhra Pradesh government decided to waive part of the training fee," said Subhash Dutta, the joint secretary of the state committee of the All India Youth Federation.
Meanwhile, an additional 220 students have been sent to Hyderabad to undertake training and development programmes there, with another 200 due to enrol soon.
In December, honourable chief minister for Assam Shri Tarun Gogoi expressed his satisfaction at the progress being made at the gas cracker project in Lepetkata.
