GE Oil & Gas has moved its entire staff into new head offices in Houston to centralise its US operations.
Offshore magazine reports that it is the first time that the company has housed its staff in one location since it acquired PII Pipelines in 2002.
Subsequent purchases of VetcoGray in 2007 and Hydril Pressure Control in 2008 further separated its operational bases.
With the move to the new building, the company will be able to run its sales, engineering, commercial ops and other affiliated functions from one location, in addition to providing onsite training facilities for the 500-strong workforce that has co-located to the site.
The company has also invested in a TelePresence suite that utilises the latest technology to allow seamless real-time videoconferencing.
In other recent company developments, GE has also this week signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatar Foundation covering the development of healthcare research and development facilities at the newly opened Qatar Science and Technology Park.
