OMV Gas of Vienna has awarded GE Oil and Gas a new $25 million (£15.2 million) contract to supply three new integrated compressor line (ICL) units for the Penta West gas pipeline.
Under the terms of the contract, GE will also provide training to familiarise OMV staff with the ICL units, which consist of a compressor, high-speed motor, transformer and variable-speed drive.
"We decided in favor of ICL technology because GE Oil & Gas is breaking new ground in emission technology and noise reduction," said Hermann Lang, project manager of OMV Gas.
Joe Mastrangelo, vice-president for turbomachinery at GE Oil & Gas, added that the new units have been developed to help firms working in the oil and gas industry to control efficiency, pollution and noise.
In other announcements this week, GE has also confirmed that Egyptian Liquified Natural Gas has become the first company to complete GE Oil and Gas Global Services' health and safety training and development partnership programme.
