Numerous executives in the Algerian oil industry have benefitted from training and development seminars hosted by GE Gas & Oil, the company's chief executive officer has claimed.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a new oil, gas and electricity maintenance and monitoring unit at Boufarik, near Algiers, Claudi Santiago said that GE had been committed to the transfer of technology and know-how to Algerian workers since 1962.
He added that the company had made a decision to expand and diversify its operations in the country, with a focus on cooperation with operators Sonatrach and Sonelgaz.
According to El Khabar, the company owns more than 400 turbines in Algeria, all of which are to be retrofitted to meet rigorous environmental standards.
In other company developments, gulfnews.com has reported that the Emirates Aluminium smelter in Abu Dhabi has received its first shipment of two 75-tonne combustion turbine exhaust gas diverters provided by GE.
