Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has completed work on a new hazmat processing facility located at Ras Laffan Industrial City, the hub of Qatar's oil and gas industry.
The first of its kind in the industrial trading zone, the facilities have been designed to ease the burden of processing hazardous materials for growing oil and gas companies in the country.
According to the Peninsula, the facilities are capable of handling all International Materials Organisation classes of hazardous waste, except classes one and seven - covering explosive and radioactive materials - as these are not produced by the oil and gas industry.
Elsewhere in the country, Qatar Petroleum also recently hosted an annual training and development programme to mitigate oil spill risks and improve response times through greater cooperation and coordination.
The course was administered by the Oil Spill Training Company as part of a three-year contract with the state oil and gas firm.
