Gazprom and Schlumberger have entered into an agreement which will see the companies cooperate in the provision of turnkey technologies.
The latter will provide the Russian state-owned oil major with signature technology which will enable it to improve output capacity and exploration efficiency in domestic fields and those overseas.
So too, the duo will also collaborate in conducting scientific research, exploring new technology and running oil and gas training courses.
"The parties have agreed to form a joint work group and a coordination committee to select technological projects for joint implementation and to elaborate a programme of long-term cooperation," it was announced in a joint statement.
Schlumberger has worked with Gazprom since the early 1990s, when it supplied the firm with horizontal well drilling equipment.
In other recent announcements, Schlumberger celebrated the opening of a new training and development centre at the Testing Services base outside of Aberdeen.
The centre provides firms with technical support in the management of landing string operations in the North Sea, Africa and the Mediterranean.
