Ghana will look to ensure that the entire nation benefits from its recent oil discovery by establishing a strong training and development framework, the country's vice-president John Mahama has announced.
Addressing an audience of transport industry executives in Accra, the politician warned that the country will not see rapid economic growth unless it is united in its development of a strong oil and gas industry.
Ghana Broadcasting Corp reports that he went on to declare that the transport and logistics sector will play a pivotal part in achieving this.
He added that the government will bolster private sector development with an enhanced training and development framework to ensure that all Ghanaians can benefit from the oil find.
Tullow made the discovery in June 2007, when it struck 600 million barrels of light crude oil in the Mahogany basin, rights of which it shares with Anadarko.
