Ten representatives of Sigma-Basestar Technical Services Ghana have presented the ahantahene Otumfuo Baidoo Bonsoe with a provisional document outlining the provision of training for Ghanaians looking to serve the country's burgeoning oil and gas industry.
Ghana Broadcasting Corp reports that the company, which is a joint-venture between four oil and gas firms from Nigeria, Canada and Ghana, has developed the document to achieve seven core objectives pursuant to raising skill levels among Ghanaian workers to allow them to benefit from the recent oil finds in the country.
Dr Soky Amachree, a director of the consortium, told the news agency that the document sets out an agenda to provide training opportunities for young workers in the western region country, where oil has been found offshore.
Tullow, which has operatorship of the Deepwater Tano licence, this week announced another major find in Ghana, describing the new field as "potentially giant".
The Tweneboa-1 exploration well encountered 21 metres of net oil pay.
