Ghana's minister for employment Stephen Amoanor Kwao has pledged to invest strongly in human capital development through new training and development centres and initiatives.
In the ministry's annual mission statement, Mr Kwao set out a four-point plan that included strategies to increase access to technical and vocational training courses in the country's emergent oil and gas industry and other sectors, as well as improving employment opportunities for those with disabilities and disadvantages.
As well as investing in training and retraining, the ministry also pledged to "promote and sustain an enabling environment for productive employment towards the achievement of accelerated growth and development".
The mission statement followed an announcement from Tullow that it is on course to commence production at Ghana's Jubilee field in the second half of next year.
The Irish firm has also pledged to continue to explore the upside potential in the offshore Tweneboa and Teak fields, giving further strength to the country's oil and gas industry.
