A training and development programme targeting media agencies is helping to promote advocacy and awareness of the country's formative oil and gas laws.
Organised by the Oilfield Training Centre (OTC) and Global Energy Ventures, the one day training programme hosted at the centre earlier this month will form part of a larger training platform to engage media representatives in teaching local citizens about the laws governing the country's oil and gas industry.
Mr George A Naykene, regional chairman of the Western Regional Ghana Journalists Association, said that the training programme will allow media representatives to play a watchdog role as the Ghanaian oil and gas industry develops over the coming years.
Last month, Tullow confirmed that 14 Ghanaian graduate engineers have completed the first phase of an overseas training programme designed to strengthen their career prospects in Ghana's emergent oil and gas industry once Tullow's multiple discoveries are brought on stream.
