Irish operator Tullow is set to bring the first well in the Jubilee field on stream later this year and the company has ramped up its training and development regime to ensure it is sufficiently well-staffed to do so.
Ghana News Agency reports members of the commerce association have reminded the government that while primary oil training schemes will be essential, local secondary and tertiary businesses need to be supported and allowed to benefit from the increased revenues the oil finds will bring.
''It is for this reason that we are happy government has completed its draft policy framework on local content started in 2007, intended to localise the oil and gas industry while managing its sustainability," commented Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi.
