Global oilfield services firm Honeywell has announced that is set to expand in Iraq, providing process automation equipment to oil and gas companies and training to local workers.
As part of its bid to increase local participation in the country's recovering oil and gas industry, the company launched a new junior engineer talent programme, which will familiarise talented young students with all facets of Honeywell's equipment solutions and project management services.
"Honeywell is uniquely positioned to play a key role in the reconstruction and development of Iraq. We are committed to a full-scale presence in order to most effectively manage projects," said Norm Gilsdorf, president of Honeywell Process Solutions.
Following two international licensing rounds held in 2009, international oil and gas companies are working to redevelop Iraq's oil fields, after years of neglect during Saddam Hussein's reign.
