The International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) has trained more than 4,000 professionals in 50 different countries since first launching its lubricants certification programmes in 2001.
Over eight years, the group has developed specialised accreditations focusing on the career structure, job description, required training syllabus and certification exam structure of each individual trainee and the company now offers courses in eight different languages.
Now, the non-profit group proudly announces that its certification has been adopted by the Organisation for International Standardisation (ISO) in the ISO 18436-4 standard after a period of close consultation between the two organisations.
However, it clarifies: "While ICML is very thrilled to have contributed to industry in such an important manner, it will not call itself the 'ISO certified' or 'ISO accredited' certification program."
This, the company explains, is because ISO does not have the capacity to certify compliance with its own standards and as such, does not endorse companies that do so.
Prior to its consultation with ISO on developing ISO 18436-4, ICML invited feedback from its members to strengthen the framework of the oil analysis standard.
