The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has published a new technical review designed to train new offshore workers in digital video capture.
In a statement, the IMCA said digital video technology has ushered in a new era of technical innovation for the offshore sector, allowing it to make strides of a size not seen since the introduction of analogue video recording technologies in the 1970s.
Jane Bugler, the IMCA's technical director, explained that the new technical review will also be of utility to the wider maritime sector and not only the offshore oil and gas sector.
"Aimed at client education; educating and informing sales and contract personnel; and designed for use in the training of new personnel, it is a sister document to our existing technical review of digital video for the offshore market," she commented.
The IMCA has more than 650 members across the globe, operating in the offshore, marine and underwater engineering sectors.
