The International Maritimes Contractors' Association (IMCA) is continuing to prove its value to the oil and gas industry with the development of a new electronic Common Marine Inspection Document (CMID).
Group chief executive Hugh Williams explained that the new database will be unveiled to the oil and gas industry at the IMCA's annual meeting in Brazil in November, providing enhanced guidance for marine inspectors.
The organisation's president John Rasmussen said that the development of the e-CMID is the latest evidence of the organisation's dedication to promoting members' interests.
He added: "This means ongoing improvements in health, safety, environmental standards, training and competence, promoting equitable contracting regimes and lobbying for better regulation for a safer, more efficient and thus successful industry."
The IMCA now has more than 600 members in 52 countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Brazil, the UAE and Brunei, with membership continuing to register strong growth.
In 2007, the organisation had 400 members.
